Submissions due June 1, 2016

The Association for Middle East Anthropology (AMEA) Graduate Student Paper Prize has been established to recognize and promote excellence in the field of Middle East anthropology and to encourage academic engagement and excellence in this field among students at the graduate level. The AMEA Graduate Student Paper Prize will be offered annually to a graduate student who has solo-authored a paper in the anthropology of the MENA area. The competition is open only to papers written in English. The AMEA Graduate Student Paper Prize will be awarded to the individual whose work is judged to provide the most significant and potentially influential contribution to Middle East anthropology. Papers of exceptional courage and potential impact beyond the field will be given special consideration.

The AMEA Graduate Student Paper Prize will be publicly announced at the AMEA Annual Meeting at MESA. The winner will receive a $100 cash award and a certificate. The winner will also be invited to submit the paper for publication in the journal Anthropology of the Middle East.
