Call for Proposals Now Open for 2nd Annual Travel Grant
2015 Evelyn Abdalah Menconi Travel Grant
Support for researchers to visit and use the collections at the Arab American National Museum’s Russell J. Ebeid Library & Resource Center
The Russell J. Ebeid Library & Resource Center at the Arab American National Museum is accepting applications for a travel grant. The grant is made possible through support from the William G. Abdalah Memorial Library and is named in honor of Evelyn Abdalah Menconi, an educator who worked tirelessly to preserve Arab American cultural heritage.
The Award
One travel grant of $1,000 will be awarded to a qualified candidate to conduct research in residency at the Arab American National Museum for a period of 5 to 10 days. The funds may be used to cover travel, lodging, and other related expenses. Travel to the Museum must take place during summer 2015.
Qualified candidates include graduate students or junior faculty members at accredited institutions, as well as independent researchers. Special consideration will be given to applicants who live outside a 100-mile radius from the museum.
How to apply
To apply, please submit an application consisting of the following:
• Brief C.V.;
• 500-word proposal, including the topic of research, the resources to be utilized at the AANM, and the expected outcomes of the research (dissertation, article, etc.);
• Proposed budget (including estimated airfare, lodging, etc.); and
• 1 letter of support.

About the Museum’s Collections:
The Arab American National Museum, the only institution of its kind in the United States, documents, preserves and presents the history, culture and contributions of Arab Americans. As part of that mission, the AANM’s Russell J. Ebeid Library & Resource Center and Archives administers the largest collection of materials by and about Arab Americans anywhere in the country.
