PARC Call for Applications and Panels
- PARC is still accepting applications for its sixth Faculty Development Seminar (FDS). This 12-day travel seminar is for U.S. faculty members with a demonstrated interest in, but little travel experience to, Palestine. Applications are due January 9, 2015. - We have extended the deadline for our third National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Fellowship Program at Independent Research Institutions (FPIRI) competition for post-doctoral scholars conducting field-based research in Palestine in the humanities or research with a humanistic approach. The program is open to U.S. scholars and scholars who have been resident in the U.S. for the last three years. Applications are now due Jan 16, 2015. - It’s not too early to start thinking about putting together a panel for PARC to sponsor at MESA’s annual meeting November 21-24, 2015 in Denver! The MESA deadline is February 12, 2015. If you are interested in PARC sponsorship, please email us and let us know what you have in mind. The PARC deadline for submission of full panel and paper abstracts is January 29, 2015. We look forward to sponsoring three panels again in 2015.
CAORC Fellowships
- The Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) Multi-Country Fellowship Program supports advanced regional or trans-regional research in the humanities, social sciences, or allied natural sciences for U.S. doctoral candidates and scholars who have already earned their Ph.D. Preference will be given to candidates examining comparative and/or cross-regional research. Applicants are eligible to apply as individuals or in teams. Scholars must carry out research in two or more countries outside the United States, at least one of which hosts a participating American overseas research center (PARC is one of these Centers!). - The Council of American Overseas Research Centers is pleased to announce a focused regional fellowship program for pre- and early post-doctoral scholars to carry out research in the humanities and related social sciences in countries bordering the Mediterranean and served by American overseas research centers (PARC is one of these Centers!). Scholars must be US citizens or Permanent Residents; be doctoral candidates or scholars who obtained a Ph.D. within the last 10 years (September 2004 or later); propose a three to nine month humanities or related social science research project; and propose travel to one or more Mediterranean region country, at least one of which hosts a participating American overseas research center. Calls for Scholarships & Fellowships
- College graduates from the West Bank or Gaza can apply for a scholarship from the Durham Palestine Educational Trust for a fully funded one-year master’s degree at Durham University in the UK, starting October 2015. Applicants must have completed their bachelor’s degree before July 2014 at a university in the West Bank or Gaza with a grade point average of at least 3.0 or B. They must also belong to a family that is originally from the West Bank or Gaza, and be unable to study abroad through the finances of their immediate family. Other requirements include a certificate of English language proficiency. The Trust will offer five IELTS fee scholarships in 2015 to candidates who cannot afford to take an English language test. - Asfari-MAP Scholarship for Palestinian Medical and Health Professionals for a one-year masters’ program at a UK university. Applicants must be under the age of 40, from Palestine or Lebanon, and committed to return to the region. Applications due March 15. - Palestinian American students with limited travel experience to Palestine should check out the Zahi Khouri Fellowship. This unique opportunity brings students to Nablus to work with disadvantaged children and women in the Middle East with Tomorrow’s Youth Organization, an American nonprofit. The fellowship includes roundtrip airfare, housing, mentoring sessions, and trips throughout the West Bank. The deadline for application is February 13, 2015.
