Business Meeting for the Arab American Studies Association (AASA)

You are cordially invited to attend the business meeting for the Arab American Studies Association (AASA) at the 2014 MESA conference in Washington, DC. Our meeting is scheduled for Saturday, November 22, from 2-3pm in the Tyler (M) room of the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. At this meeting, we plan to explore what lies ahead for AASA and to welcome our new AASA officers, Louise Cainkar, President Elect, Umayyah Cable, Web Coordinator, Evelyn Alsultany, Member-at-Large, and Matthew Stiffler, Member-at-Large. Other items on the agenda include reports from the communications committee on developing an AASA blog and/or newsletter, ideas for moving forward with other committees, a financial report from our treasurer, a census report, and a discussion about membership—how many we are, what we can offer our members and how to grow our base. As well, we will discuss—and hope to hear from you—about ideas for projects for AASA— AASA panels for MESA 2015, conferences, new initiatives, etc.
